Finding jobs on a freelance writing site can be difficult. There is a lot of competition and many writers are willing to write at much lower prices than you might be. Besides putting in a lot of time and effort, there are a few things you can do to make yourself stand out on a freelance site.
First, you should have a great bio. In your bio, do not be afraid to sell yourself. You need to remember that at the beginning you may not have references so you have to be your own best reference. Give as many details as you can and where possible, demonstrate how you have helped clients in the past. You might be able to say that, “Client X saw his site move from PR2 to PR3 in the time that you wrote articles for him.” Give concrete examples to be more efficient in your job descriptions.
You should also ensure that you bio is written perfectly. There should be no spelling mistakes, no grammar errors, and your text should be clear, concise, and to the point. Do not ramble on and on just to take up space. It is better to have a 200 word bio that is written succinctly than to have a 500 word bio that says the same thing.
Finally, make sure all of your communications with potential clients are professional. Never show your disappointment and never talk badly about others. Concentrate on presenting yourself in the best light possible and do not worry about what anyone else is doing. Always say thank you when an opportunity is presented.
Freelance writing sites can hold many opportunities, so if you choose to use them as a means of getting more work, always be a professional. When you act like someone who has been working in the writing field for many years, potential clients will assume that is exactly what you are.
